For June Art Fair 2023 Christian Andersen presents a series of sculptural works hand carved in different types of upcycled wood by Lina Viste Grønli. Her work combines semiotic sculpture and collage techniques. With a focus on the experience and transmission of language, the works harness the powers of language through the ambiguity of selected words and phrases that showcases how context contributes to meaning. The encounter between institution and artistic agency, between representation and the “thing itself”, the works are both subjects to external gaze and artistic self-identification. It is a space for words to be transformed, combined and associated. A word is a concept, a word is every(thing).
Opinions and offerings of explanations of proceeding, incidents, affairs or situations overlaid with commentary, narration and descriptions, as expressions of very strong disapproval and objection, dislike, disfavour, displeasure, distaste and criticism. A thumbs down based on perceived faults or mistakes, errors, inaccuracies and omissions. A slip, a blunder, a miscalculation, a misunderstanding or oversight or misinterpretation, gaffe, faux pas, solecism, a slip of the tongue, slip-up, boo-boo, blooper, boner, goof and flub, mulled over, chewed over, reflected on, meditated on, and ruminated on in wood.
